Direct Travel has become the first Travel Management Company to achieve BTA Accreditation Level 1, a new industry benchmark established by the Business Travel Association in June 2026.
The accreditation independently assesses TMCs across six areas: business stability and governance, insurance and financial protection, data protection and privacy, professional competence, client service standards and business continuity planning.
For clients, it provides greater confidence when selecting a travel management partner. It also formally recognises the robust standards and practices embedded across the Direct Travel and ATPI businesses.
Nikki Regan, Director of Client Solutions and BTA Board Member, said:
“I recognised early the value of having an independent accreditation framework that gives buyers greater confidence when selecting a Travel Management Company. It was important for us not only to support the initiative, but to lead by example in the TMC space.
This recognition reflects the high standards our people uphold every day and demonstrates our commitment to professionalism, client service and continuous improvement.”
Adam Knights, Regional Managing Director EME, said:
“In a competitive market, clients need to know that their travel partner can combine exceptional service with strong governance and operational resilience.
This accreditation provides independent assurance that those standards are firmly embedded across our business. It strengthens our position as a trusted partner and delivers meaningful value for clients across the Direct Travel and ATPI network.”
Clive Wratten, Chief Executive of the Business Travel Association added:
“We are delighted to recognise Direct Travel as the first Travel Management Company to achieve BTA Accreditation Level 1.
Accreditation is not a tick-box exercise. It reflects the professionalism, governance and service standards already embedded within the business, giving clients credible, independent assurance of its quality. Direct Travel’s achievement also supports the BTA’s wider ambition to raise standards across the business travel industry.”
